Saving "The Twelve Days of Christmas" from being forgotten.
Every year PNC Bank calculates the price of each gift from the classic carol "The Twelve Days of Christmas" and uses the results to teach kids about the economy. This year, PNC had a big problem. The song had fallen to the bottom of the Billboard Holiday Music Chart. The Great Carol Comeback reinvented the carol with 12 unique pieces of content, based on the 12 gifts from the song, all with a single goal: get people to fall in love with the song again.
To bring back the once-great carol, we reinvented the song in 12 unique ways – from an animated film to a children’s book to a live stunt. The content was released on Facebook and Twitter one piece per day over the course of 12 days leading up to Christmas.
All of the content could be watched, played with, and shared on a website inspired by a traditional advent calendar. The content for each gift was paired with the gifts' 2014 prices and an explanation of the economic factors that made them rise or fall.
